Buying a Hypixel Rank vs a Ranked Account (2026)

If you want a Hypixel rank, you have two routes. You can buy the rank on the official Hypixel Store for an account you already own, or you can buy a whole Minecraft account that already has a rank on it. The price gap between the two can be large, especially at MVP and MVP+.
This guide puts the numbers side by side and then covers the parts that matter more than the price: which account ends up with the rank, how upgrades and MVP++ work, and what Hypixel's own rules say about accounts changing hands. Hypixel rank prices on the official store
These are the list prices the Hypixel Store shows in US dollars at the time of writing. The store lets you switch the displayed currency (euros, pounds, Canadian and Australian dollars, and several others), and the final total is shown at checkout.

A few details from the store's own descriptions:
- Upgrades are discounted. The ranks page says that if you already have a rank, the value of your current rank is deducted from your next rank upgrade, and the reduced price is shown automatically once you log in with that username. So a VIP player does not pay the full $44.99 for MVP+.
- MVP++ is not a lifetime rank. The store calls it an upgrade to an existing MVP+ rank. It renews on the cycle you pick, only one subscription can be active at a time, and it can be cancelled. When it ends, the account goes back to MVP+. Prepaid MVP++ days without a subscription are sold for Gold in the in-game store instead.
- Each rank also applies on the Hypixel Forums and Discord. The store descriptions say you receive the rank on the server, the forums, and the Hypixel Discord.
What a store rank actually buys you
When you buy from the store, you type a Minecraft username, and that account is the one that receives the rank. Hypixel's store guide tells you to check that the "Receiver" in your cart is the right account before paying, because that is who gets the item.
After that, the rank stays with that account. The store FAQ says Hypixel does not offer transfers of ranks, stats, or coins to a different account, and that anything bought on the web store is for the player it was purchased for and for them only. The store terms say the same thing in legal language: you get a license to use the item, only on the account it was bought for, with no right to resell or share it.
Two more points from those terms are worth knowing before you spend money:
- Purchases are final. The terms say there are no refunds, and that you will not be refunded if you are banned for breaking the server's rules. (EU customers have a separate withdrawal section in the terms.)
- A rank is not a guarantee of access. The terms say there is no guarantee of being able to use the server, and Hypixel's Terms of Service say pre-purchased virtual goods are forfeited if an account is terminated or suspended.
Gifting a rank
Because the store simply delivers to whichever username you log in with, you can buy a rank for a friend by entering their username instead of yours. Double-check the spelling and the Receiver line in the cart. Once it lands on their account, it is theirs, and Hypixel will not move it back.
Store rank vs ranked account: the price comparison
Here is the same table with ranked accounts added. The shop column shows alts.cool's prices at time of writing; listings and prices change.

Read the two columns carefully, because they are not the same product:
- The store column is the price of adding a rank to an account you already have. It does not include a Minecraft account.
- The ranked account column is the price of a different Minecraft account that already has the rank. Your current account stays exactly as it is.
At VIP, the store is cheaper. From VIP+ upward, a ranked account costs less than the store rank. If you want MVP++, it is a subscription either way, so you would pay Hypixel for it on top of an MVP+ account.
Which one makes sense for you
You want the rank on your main account. Buy it on the Hypixel Store. Your stats, friends, guild, cosmetics, and username are on your main, and a ranked account cannot give your main a rank. The store route is also the clean one: you pay Hypixel directly, on an account you created, and no one else has ever held the login.
You already have a rank and want a higher one. The store's upgrade pricing deducts what your current rank is worth, so check the upgrade price while logged in with your username before comparing anything else.
You want a second account, and you want it ranked. This is the case where a ranked account can make sense. People use second accounts to record, test settings, or keep a separate profile. If you were going to buy a second Java account anyway, getting one that already has MVP+ costs less than buying a fresh copy of the game and then $44.99 of rank on top. What Hypixel's rules say about trading accounts
This part matters, and it is better to read it plainly than to find out later.
Hypixel's Server Rules list "Account Abuse" as behavior that is not allowed, and define it as "Selling, trading, giving away any accounts, or sharing accounts between players." The same rules also say players are responsible for their own accounts and for any actions taken on them. Separately, the Terms of Service say Hypixel can terminate or restrict any account at its discretion.
In other words, Hypixel does not approve of accounts changing owners, whether that is between friends or through a shop. A ranked account still works as a normal Minecraft account once you have secured it, but the Hypixel rank on it exists under Hypixel's rules, and those rules do not carve out an exception for bought accounts. That is a real trade-off against a store rank on your own main, and it is a reason not to put a ranked account at the center of anything you cannot afford to lose.
If you go the ranked-account route anyway:
- Secure it right away. Change the password and recovery details, as covered in how to secure a Minecraft account after buying.
- Play it clean. Every server rule applies to it exactly as it does to your main.
- Do not use it to get around a punishment. Hypixel's Terms of Service say that if you have been banned from Hypixel's services, you may not use them, and the Server Rules list punishment evading under unfair advantages. How much does MVP+ cost on Hypixel?
At the time of writing, MVP+ is $44.99 USD on the Hypixel Store for an account with no rank. If the account already has a rank, the store deducts its value and shows a lower upgrade price.
Is MVP++ permanent?
No. The store describes MVP++ as a subscription upgrade to MVP+ that renews every 30 days, 3 months, or year. When the subscription is cancelled or prepaid time runs out, the account goes back to MVP+.
Can I move my Hypixel rank to a new account?
No. The store FAQ says Hypixel does not offer rank, stat, or coin transfers between accounts. A rank stays on the account it was bought for.
